Acquiring a Family Visa in the UAE

A step-by-step guide for employed and self-employed individuals in the UAE.


1: Eligibility and Preparation

Check Eligibility

  • Employed: Valid work visa and minimum salary meeting Emirate requirements.
  • Self-employed: Valid Green Residence Permit with an annual income of at least AED 360,000 over the past 2 years.

Documents Required

  • Sponsor’s Passport (copy) & Emirates ID (original)
  • Family Members’ Passports (copies, valid for at least 6 months)
  • Proof of Accommodation (Ejari tenancy contract)
  • Employment Contract or Green Visa Application
  • Salary Certificate or Bank Statements
  • Medical Fitness Test Results (over 18 years old)

2: Application Process

Apply for Entry Permit

  • Employed: Through employer or a registered typing office. Fees: AED 1,000 – 3,000.
  • Self-employed: As part of the Green Visa application. Fees: AED 5,000 – 7,000.

Steps After Approval

  • Receive entry permit reference number.
  • Family members enter the UAE using the permit.
  • Medical fitness test for family members over 18 at approved centers.
  • Apply for Emirates IDs (AED 300 each).

3: Finalization

  • Visa Stamping: Complete visa stamping after medical and Emirates IDs are issued.
  • Fee Payment: Pay any additional fees for stamping and ID collection.
  • Collect the residence visas for your family members.
